Dec 00 New Main Lift
At last. The main shaft which dates back to before 1936 and services the lower ground up to the third floor, has long been over due for a replacement cage. The difficulty has been to find a company who could supply a cage which fitted the existing shaft, as Bath's strict planning people quite rightly would not let us increase its size. So after much research an Italian company was found who could supply, and the lift is scheduled for replacement in December 2000. No more heavy gates to open and close manually, as the new lift is fully automatic - hooray!
